When you live with Crohn’s and have had most of your small intestine removed, succulent strawberries make you drool.

Strawberries have always been my favorite food– not just favorite fruit, but favorite food.  There’s nothing like pulling a warm, red strawberry off the vine, biting into it, and having that warm, sweet liquid squirt in your mouth– after you wash it off, of course.

Since I had most of my small intestine removed, I can’t do that anymore.  Well, I can, but I could end up in emergency surgery.  I can no longer have seeds or nuts.  Since strawberries are loaded with them, I usually just sit and drool while others eat them.

Today was one of those days.

My daughter came in with a big bowl of succulent strawberries.  They looked delicious, even though they were small.  I couldn’t take it anymore.  I took a knife and cut off all of the seeds so I could share in the deliciousness.

You know you really want a bite of a succulent strawberry, when you’re willing to cut off the seeds, so you can eat it.
